What Kind Cupcakery is more than a Cupcakery; it’s a dream I’ve been carrying since high school. I’m Stone Franklin affectionately known as the ’Cupcake Lady’, and what started as selling cupcakes in high school to classmates turned into a calling I couldn’t shake. The name What Kind Cupcakery came from the simple, excited question people would ask me whenever I showed up with cupcakes in hand, “What kind of cupcakes you got today?” After years of mixing batter and pouring my heart into every recipe, I legally established WKC in January 2019, and on November 10, 2019, I opened the doors to my first brick-and-mortar in Quincy, FL. Folks came not just for cupcakes, but for a warm smile, a listening ear, and a little taste of joy. My slogan, Don’t Deny, Indulge, is rooted in the idea of escapism. Giving yourself permission to pause from life’s stress, let go for a moment, and savor something purely for you. On May 17, 2025, WKC moved to Tallahassee, FL, to reach a larger audience, embrace new opportunities, and create a space where even more people could experience the sweetness that feels like home. Through every high and low, WKC has stood on the same foundation: creativity, community, and a whole lot of love in every bite.
